The Turkish defense industry has developed a 50-watt DC/DC converter, which is approximately half the size of a matchbox and costs about $20,000 per kilogram. This product, meeting various electronic systems' power conversion needs from ammunition to aircraft, will be showcased for the first time at SAHA EXPO.

SAHA EXPO, the largest industrial cluster in Turkey and Europe, organized by SAHA Istanbul under the auspices of the Presidency and supported by six ministries and the Presidency of Defense Industries, will take place from October 22 to 26 at the Istanbul Expo Center, in partnership with Anadolu Agency.

Anova R&D Technologies, specializing in military AC/DC and DC/DC converters for electronic systems, will present their latest product at SAHA EXPO. The company's Electronics Design Director, İbrahim Altunsoy, stated that they began working on such converters in 2016 due to market demands, highlighting that supply chain challenges led to advancements in their development.

Altunsoy explained that the converters transform voltage levels from sources to the required values for subsystems, noting that while AC power sources are common in airborne platforms, DC sources are prevalent in avionics. The first three products they developed were AC/DC converters aimed at aviation platforms.

The First Mission in Ammunition

The validation of these products has been completed, and they have been used in ammunition. Altunsoy emphasized the challenges and risks involved in integrating these converters into existing designs without compromising efficiency and power draw.

Altunsoy expressed excitement about introducing the new product at SAHA EXPO, stating that the compact design allows for extensive applications, including in electro-optic systems and onboard computers, pointing to a significant market potential valued at $15,000 to $20,000 per kilogram.
