With its ongoing projects in the space and aviation sectors, Turkey has successfully positioned itself among the leading countries in the field. For the upcoming year, the country plans to utilize over 5 billion 52 million lira from its budget to advance its space initiatives.

According to the draft of the Central Government Budget Law for 2025, Turkey successfully conducted its first manned space mission this year, and it intends to continue its efforts to enhance its position in the aerospace sector.

For 2024, a budget of 4 billion lira was allocated for space and aviation, which has increased to 5 billion 52 million lira for 2025.

Budget to Reach 7 Billion Lira by 2027

The increase in the budget reflects Turkey's determination to execute items within its National Space Program, which saw the launch of its first astronauts, Alper Gezeravcı and Tuva Cihangir Atasever, along with its indigenous satellite, TURKSAT 6A.

Work continues on the program's goal of establishing first contact with the Moon. The design and production of the spacecraft aimed for this contact in 2026 is being managed by TÜBİTAK UZAY.

Turkey will also host the world's largest space event, the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), in Antalya in 2026.

In 2026, Turkey plans to allocate 5 billion 984 million 396 thousand lira for its space and aviation programs, with expectations of 6 billion 802 million 903 thousand lira designated for an R&D center focused on fusion technology by 2027.

TUA's Budget Overview

To enhance its capacity in critical space and aviation technologies, Turkey will pursue various projects during the 2025–2027 period, including deep space and lunar studies.

Next year, the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) will receive 2 billion 344 million 953 thousand lira. Budget allocations for 2026 and 2027 are set for 2 billion 781 million 864 thousand lira and 3 billion 163 million 928 thousand lira, respectively.

National Space Program Goals

Turkey aims to develop competitive commercial satellite brands, establish a regional positioning system, and invest in space weather technologies. Additional objectives include advancing astronomical observations and creating a dedicated space technology development region.

These initiatives position Turkey to share a stake in the rapidly growing space economy, projected to reach up to 1 trillion dollars.
